The average adult in the United States spends more than ⅓ of their life at work. The vast majority of the places we work are mini-dictatorships, where the employers determine who is employed and why, what the wages and working conditions are, and how the profits and proceeds are distributed and used. In a supposedly democratic society, the question is why is the undemocratic “employer/employee” relationship still tolerated as a social norm? How can we democratize the places we work? What social advances might this transformation enable for working people?
Join us to consider these questions and their implications with economic Professor Richard Wolff and Cooperation Jackson members Kali Akuno and Imani Olugbala.
