Black August Community Arts Festival - Call to Artists

Cooperation Jackson will be hosting its second Community Arts Festival on aug 17th - 18th. We are issuing a call for artists to commission their services. Artist will be paid a stipend of $1200 to contribute to beautifying the Ida B Wells Plaza (formally the West Park Plaza) on the corner of Capital and Monument Streets in West Jackson.

Each artist will receive half of the stipend up front and the rest upon full completion of the mural. The canvas areas extends to about 12x90 to 12x65 feet.

Artists must submit artwork that aligns with the theme of the event. The theme is BLACK RESISTANCE and SELF DETERMINATION!!

If an artist does not have a piece that fits the theme. Then they must submit an audition piece that has been done within the past year and demonstrates the ability to professionally compose a completed painted piece. Artist will have until Aug 17th to Sept 17th to finalize their work. All serious inquiries will need to send the following: 3 HI-Res 1080p images of you work.
A small 75 word essay including your bio and how your work fits the festival theme

Artist must put "Audition Piece" in the subject line.
