**West Jackson Market Meet Up

Join Cooperation Jackson on Saturday, March 26th

Ida B. Wells Plaza

1128 W. Capitol Street, Jackson, MS 39203

12 - 4 pm**

Our Market Meet-Up’s are designed to reconnect and rebuild our community in the aftermath of the social disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. We aim to accomplish this by creating a new social and material commons space to exchange locally produced goods, services, and care and share practices with each other for our collective benefit and enrichment. How we will get there is by hosting and working with local vendors, farmers, manufacturers, doctors, healers, and artisans to create a common market that will enable the purchasing, bartering and swapping of goods and services, and will include the development and utilization of time banking and alternative currencies as a means of exchange over time. The Market Meet Up will be held the fourth Saturday of each month between March and October at the Ida B. Wells Plaza, located at 1128 W. Capitol Street, Jackson, MS.

The Market Meet Up is also part of our strategy to build community support for the People’s Grocery and the assortment of health and healing services that are going to be located at the Plaza. People’s Grocery will be opening in 2023. The Grocery store will be a multi-stakeholder cooperative that will be owned in part by its workers and the community at large. Once in place, the People’s Grocery will help end the food desert that exists in West Jackson. Our grocery will specialize in providing fresh and affordable, locally grown produce, fruits, fish, seafood and meats to help our community improve our health outcomes.
