The funds generated at this fundraiser will help us purchase the Ida B. Wells Plaza and the Development of our Ewing Street Eco-Village Initiative. We are looking to raise $150,000 for this initiative by the end of 2018.
The purchase of the Ida B. Wells Plaza would be a major expansion of our Community Land Trust (CLT). The Plaza is currently a shopping center in West Jackson named the "West Park Shopping Center", which we aim to rename in memory of Mississippi native and cooperator, Ida B. Wells. The plaza will eventually be home to a cooperative grocery store and a number of community centered retail businesses.
The Ewing Street EcoVillage demonstration project is a combined effort of our Community Land Trust, emerging Community Production Cooperative Community Production Cooperative, Freedom Farms, and the Green Team. This project centers around the production of digitally fabricated houses and support structures utilizing sustainable and recycled materials.
