The United Nations Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent (WGEPAD) will be coming to Jackson in January 2016 to promote the International Decade of People of African Descent and engage in a fact-finding mission.
Cooperation Jackson and the Human Rights Institute are working with the US Human Rights Network (USHRN) and the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to host the Working Group of Experts in Jackson.
Please join us for the first Host Planning Committee meeting to plan their itinerary so they can learn all they can about the conditions of people of African descent in our community and state.
Although we do not know the exact dates of the Working Groups visit to Jackson at this time, we do know that they will be touring the United States between January 19th through January 28th and that they plan to visit Jackson towards the end of their visit.
